Evaluation Reports

The Adventure of the American Mind program undergoes continuous evaluation. The evaluation process takes the form of both internal or self-evaluation and external or objective evaluation. Each AAM partner is constantly evaluating their implementation of the program and modifying their approach based on student feedback and objective measures of student performance such as tests and assignments.

Some past reports not listed here are available in the Evaluation Reports Archive.

Publication date: September 2007

During the summer of 2007, Evaluation Solutions and the Censeo Group LLC conducted a summative evaluation of the AAM faculty education initiative. Also known as Phase III, the AAM faculty training component was primarily carried out by the Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities (FIICU). The final evaluation report reviewed FIICU's effectiveness at meeting its program goals through its partner colleges.

2005 Independent Assessment (AAM Phase II) (PDF 1.14MB)
Publication date: December 2005

Between May and October 2005, researchers at the Education Development Center’s (EDC) Center for Children and Technology (CCT) conducted an evaluation of Phase II of the Adventure of the American Mind program. As the second evaluation of the AAM program conducted by CCT, it was a valuable opportunity to revisit this ambitious program in its second phase of growth and development and to reexamine the program’s evolving goals and structure. EDC researchers surveyed teacher participants, interviewed program staff and participants, conducted site visits, reviewed Internet and paper documentation of program activities, and gathered data from students whose teachers received AAM training.
