Overview

The AAM Home School group is producing a self-paced, self-guided curriculum for North Carolina Home School students, grades 3 through 12. Development and testing of the lessons has taken place throughout the 2002-2003 school year. The 1.0 version will be finished and available online in the fall of 2004. The current prerelease version is available online at the AAM Home School Web site.

Learning Styles

Lessons have been created to address three different learning styles:

• auditory
• visual
• kinesthetic

Auditory learners have the option of hearing instructions, visual learners may use step-by-step screen shots, and kinesthetic learners have special hands-on projects. For example, there are special hands-on projects for the music, art and science areas in the lesson plan.

Standards

The curriculum meets the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and International Society of Technology Educators Standards.

An Adventure of the American Mind is made available through a Library of Congress grant funded by the U.S. Congress. AAM is administered through the Education and Research Consortium of the Western Carolinas Inc.
