Primary Sources in Perspective

This paper surveys the values and history of primary source materials
as a context to introducing strategies for using these documents in instruction. The approaches include improving literacy, thinking, and communication skills. Another aspect is connecting document-based learning to the textbooks and other resources, as well as seamlessly integrating them into the flow of instruction. Three sample activities are included.
